Some arrive at 10:30 with their knitting supplies, to “sit ‘n knit,” chatting over tea and coffee, till 11:30, when others arrive for luncheon. Adult Children’s Group
This 12-step meeting is adapted from the Adult Children of Alcoholics program, following the steps and using workbooks from ACA (www.adultchildren.org). This group is not limited to persons whose parent(s) were alcoholic, but rather is intended for anyone with adult characteristics rooted in dysfunctional aspects of their families of origin. We seek to understand ourselves better, develop healthy habits to replace behaviors that have caused us frustration or pain, and “reframe” troubling childhood experience. As in any 12-step group, we share our experience and learn from each other. This group is moderated by adult child Rev. Nancy Holden, Community Minister of UUSRF and Recovery Network. The evening ACA meets on Tuesday from 6:30 p.m. till 8:00, and the morning ACA meets on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. till 11:00. Both groups are open to all. It is not necessary to call before coming to ACA, but questions will be answered by Nancy through email, d.n.holden@comcast.net or 715-426-6664.
